Sometimes, the only way to feel truly secure is if you are close to the airport. It seems odd that with so many people complaining about airports being situated close to where they live (the noise obviously being a factor; it isn’t a particularly nice experience to be woken up by the whoosh of an aeroplane flying in low over your house to land) that we should choose to have hotels next to an airport but, when you think about it, there is a very shrewd reason for it. Imagine that you have a flight in the early hours of the morning. You have a choice; you can either not sleep the night before and drive down (obviously, in an age where many deaths on the roads have been attributed to tiredness, this isn’t the best of ideas) or travel down in plenty of time and stay overnight. Evidently, the better option is the latter, as it means that you can wake up refreshed and catch your flight feeling much less stressed.
There is, however, the added issue about where to stay. Fortunately, an excellent chain of hotels has sprung up at many of Britain’s airports and are specifically designed for stays of a day or two. Holiday Inn is by far the best choice for a short stop over. The close proximity to the airport means that you won’t have to worry about missing your flight and the rooms are incredibly cheap. With a restaurant close by for an early breakfast, what more could you want?

There aren’t a tremendous number of airports in Wales – being a relatively small country there isn’t enough space for there to be airports everywhere; and in any case there is no need for loads of airports because they are only a short drive away. However, that is the case if you are living in the north of Wales (around the Wrexham area); Liverpool has an airport that is within easy access for many people living on the eastern and northern side of the country and is more than enough use for anyone looking to fly to Europe or America. However, for people living in the south west of Wales this is of little use as the transport infrastructure isn’t fantastic and using British airports would mean either a long drive in the morning or a hotel stay over – something that would push the price of the holiday up.
This, however, isn’t necessary because of Cardiff airport. Situated on the south coast close to Bristol, Cardiff airport is one of the only large airports to be found in Wales and offers a comprehensive flight service that can take you almost wherever you want to go. Budget airlines such as Ryanair fly out to cities like Paris and Palma and Aerlingus fly out to the USA, with flights going to Boston and New York almost daily. It is also possible to fly to mainland Britain with regular flights to all the London airports and Liverpool – the people in the west are able to go on holiday anywhere they want to!
