Cardiff is the capital city of Wales, a city with a long and sometimes troubled history which is finally shedding it’s image of crime and depravation and emerging as one of the best nights out in the UK.

Like most big cities, Cardiff has plenty to do. Being the capital of Wales, and nation proud of it’s rich history, much of the focus is on Welsh heritage and history. This means there is plenty for those with an interest in culture and history to do during the day as well. Cardiff castle is one of the favourite attractions of visitors to the city. And of course there is the magnificent Millennium stadium, which was the national stadium of the English Football Association for a few years while the new Wembley was being built.

It is reckoned the castle was built in the first century AD, making it one of the oldest historic sites in the UK. It has been rebuilt twice since and the moment you walk in you can feel the rich history seeping through the ancient walls.

Cardiff is a very nice city to drive around so if you’re flying in to Cardiff airport car hire is definitely recommended. Parking is pretty straight forward and you’ll have the opportunity to see far more sites with your own transport too.

Cardiff airport can be a little hectic so be sure to leave some time when returning to the airport to depart.

Whenever I fly into the Cardiff Airport, I am always so happy to find the excellent airport facilities that they offer. When traveling on business, it is great to be able to use the faxing and photocopying facilities at the Information Desk, or visit the Bureau de Change for currency exchange needs. If you have a membership to the Executive Lounge, you will have even more amenities to choose from, such as wireless Internet access, satellite TV, drinks and snacks and private washrooms, in addition to telephone, photocopier and fax facilities. The two meeting rooms available at the airport are very convenient, and are available for reasonable room hire charges, either for a full day or a half day. You can even arrange for refreshments and catered buffet lunches for your meeting guests.

When traveling with the family, we enjoy the two Game Zones available at the airport, which feature the latest video arcade machines for lots of family fun. There are also baby care rooms, complete with changing tables, as well as baby food facilities. There is also a great play centre in the departure lounge for children to visit with their parents.

Cardiff airport has several facilities for the disabled traveler. There are lifts to every floor, ambulift for easy boarding and free use of airport wheelchairs. If a passenger would rather use his or her own wheelchair they may do so right up until boarding. For hose hard of hearing there is a Minicom facility available at the main Information Desk.
